About Us

On October 1, 1978 Full Gospel Assembly was founded by Rev. Michael Bacchus, Asst. Pastor Jesse Persuad and Bro. Colin Wronge, under the direction of the Holy Spirit and with sincere desire to provide a place of worship for the people of God.

Our First service was held in one of the classrooms at Long Island University. Our prayer meeting was held in the basement of a Christian friend's home on East 46th Street in Brooklyn. We outgrew both places and later moved to the Y.M.C.A. building on Flatbush Avenue.  In 1980 we purchased our first building for $90,000 and burnt the mortgage 3 years later.

In September of 1985, The Full Gospel Christian Academy was opened with an enrollment of six students and one paid teacher and a volunteer. Over the years we have had enrollment ranging from 25 to 100 kids and a staff of 13. our Classes ranged from Pre-K to the 5th Grade.   In June of 2012, we were forced to discontinue our grades 1-5 with economic downturns.

Our First Missions trip Abroad left on July 23, 1986 for Guyana with a team of 45 members under the leadership of Pastor Bacchus, ministering in Georgetown and the Linden areas for two weeks.

Our Berean Bible Study Center began in 1989 and is still are presently training men and women as leaders for the church and its various ministries.

In July 1991, a team of 40 young and old members along with pastors, ministered in the island of Barbados for two weeks.

Due to our expanding need and growth of our congregation, we purchased a piece of land on Sullivan Place. We built a new sanctuary to better meet the needs of the Crown heights
area, and more specifically the Ebbetts Field Complex.  With faith and God's help we moved into our new facility on December 13, 1998.  By 2010 we were able to pay off the mortgage on our current facility at  131 Sullivan place. This was celebrated with a Mortgage Burning service.

On February 25, 2006, a new branch of the church was embarked upon  briefly meeting at the Occasions Banquet Hall in  South East Queens to meet the needs of the congregation who reside in the Queens area.  After a short while in 2011, we were able to purchase a Lutheran Church for what is known as our  "Queens  Campus" of Full Gospel Assembly in the Richmond Hill section of Queens.  In 2012 we were able to install Rev. Jonnel and Aisha Doris to lead that Ministry.
